The Grammar School for Girls Wilmington

Neighbourhood Engineers

The Neighbourhood Engineers (Science & Engineering Ambassadors) are a group of professional engineers and scientists who have volunteered their skills and expertise to schools, through an initiative set up originally by the Engineering Council.

Teachers and engineers work together to promote engineering within the school in a variety of ways, such as chatting to pupils by way of careers advice, setting up challenges in conjunction with staff, helping pupils to gain work experience etc. See www.setnet.org.uk (SEAs) for more information.

A group has been running successfully in this school for over fourteen years. Last year we ran several challenges for girls and you can see a few pictures here. If you would like to be involved or would like more information please contact Mr. B. Juchau at the school.

Recent challenges include a kite flying challenge, a build your own Sweetie Grabber challenge and I’m a celebrity get me out of here (survival) challenge. Keep your eyes open for more to come...
