Oracle Newsletter 2
Every Wednesday and Thursday, I and a group of Year 12 students have been attending the Oracle Academy facilitated by Mr Love as part of our Sixth Form enrichment. The Oracle course, which began in September, is an opportunity to learn computing and business skills which will improve our future job prospects and IT skills. Oracle is a large company that produces databases for very big firms, such as Amazon and E-bay, and we are learning how to design and program these databases (which is very exciting!). So far we have learnt to translate information in to the language of ERDish (Entity Relationship Diagram “ish”) and have also studied relationship types within Oracle databases. The course is interesting and we do fun activities that link to the different topics each week. We also got a free Oracle bracelet when we’d been going for a few weeks, which was definitely a bonus!
